Recipe: Queso Dip

Recipe: Queso Dip

Queso doesn't get much better than this!

Items Needed:

  • 1lb American Cheese
  • 8 oz Shredded Cheese (we use a Jalapeno Monterey Jack Shredded Cheese, but you can also just use a normal Monterey Jack Shredded Cheese)
  • 12 oz evaporated milk (or 12 oz heavy whipping cream)
  • 1/2 cup of pico de gallo (you can make your own or buy fresh from most stores)
  • 1/4 tsp of salt
  • 1/4 tsp of pepper
  • 1/2 tbsp of cornstarch (optional if you don't want it too thick)
  • 1 tsp of chili powder
  • tbsp of steak seasoning
  • 1 tsp of red pepper flakes

Directions:

Cube the American cheese to small quarter size cubes and add to crockpot along with shredded cheese and evaporated milk. We use a small crockpot similar to this one for our queso. Next add the pico de gallo, all of the seasonings, and stir. It may take up to an hour for queso to be fully melted. Make sure and stir every 15 minutes or so. Serve with chips and enjoy!

Cooking Tips:

  • This recipe makes quite a bit of queso, so feel free to half the recipe for a smaller portion.
  • You can also make this in a small saucepan if you do not have a crockpot.
  • Walmart sells a small crockpot for $9.99.

Hi there, this looks delish. I am curious if you have a substitute suggestion for the steak seasoning. I do not eat beef or like that beef flavor, any suggestion is appreciated.
